شرکت هیوندا در سال 1947 در کره توسط چونگ جو یونگ کار خود را آغاز کرد. این شرکت در ابتدا در رابطه با زمینه های مختلف از جمله خودرو سازی ، راه آهن ، قطعات ، استیل ، حمل و نقل ، ارتباطات و … کار خود را آغاز کرده و توانست در سال های بعد خود را به عنوان شرکت خودروسازی معرفی نموده و در کشورهای دیگر  در این زمینه شناخته شود.
